What's Popular?
Digital
cameras and GPS navigation systems are currently the
most popular sought after electronic items. Desired
and used by all ages, these two products are often
found in a family more than once. Every car and
every family member gets into the act.
In the
camera division we have found Sony, Canon, Nikon,
and Panasonic all to be excellent choices.

**TIP:
Buying
a 3-year-old
5-mega-pixel camera
that gives
excellent picture quality as opposed to a new
10-mega pixel camera which gives a huge photo
for
printing 16 x 20 sized pictures will save you
money. |
Who needs such a large picture except we
want to frame one to stare at over our fireplace?
Unless you're wanting to take professional photos, a
lesser pixel camera will work just fine for
Internet, email and family photo albums.
How To Keep Up With The Neighbors!
In the
GPS division, Garmin far exceeds any other brand in
popularity. With its impressive history designing
GPS products for marine and aero use, the fact that
average everyday people can now navigate in their cars and
motorcycles (and even walking in the woods) is near
revolutionary.
If our
neighbors can afford a GPS, we certainly can afford
this simple luxury. When GPS for cars was first
introduced they were a little pricey. But prices,
competition, and desire have driven down the cost.
Older
GPS models with excellent quality
are still available at great savings.
Need a
cell phone? Teenagers are one group of people who
always want the "newest and latest". As parents of
these teens have replaced the kids' "original"
phones, the older, less fancy, less complicated
phone can be bought at a "recycled" price. The
phones in this category still work, still do the job
they were designed for.
We can
often get a
pre-owned cell phone from someone who has "moved up".
Or, get a pre-owned cell phone as a starter phone
for a younger child. Older people may not want or
need all the bells and whistles so a refurbished
cell phone is a practical choice.
Computer need more disc space?? Consider an external
hard drive on which to save your information instead of buying
a newer computer with a larger internal hard drive.
The prices have come way down on external drives
while the storage space has gone up.
Plug and play
computer cards are so easy to replace, therefore
when we need more ram for speed, we can buy
RAM cheap and pop it into the
computer ourselves. Don't know how?
Read a book for information on how to save money on
labor when our computers need repair.
And
then there's the "how can I do without it" iPod.
Save money (or earn money) learning how to fix them.
We found a wonderful little guide that will get an
iPod working again in 30 minutes or we get our money back.
Our grandchildren have broken a number of iPods
and they were NOT cheap to replace.
Oh, if only we had this
little gem of an
iPod repair book before today.
